For many years, people (including myself) haven't been big fans of dresses with sneakers or jeans with heels. But in the past few runway seasons of top designers and in the streets of top cities, the mixing of casual and formal is back and is turning the haters into lovers. For Chanel's Spring 2014 Haute Couture collection, Karl Lagerfeld incorporated beautiful tweed dresses with flat embroidered sneakers for every one of his looks. The boyish yet feminine look seems so appealing and so incredible, especially due to its sense of lightness. As Karl had said, "It gives it a different attitude."
Jeans and heels are also a new trend. Whether it be patterned, boyfriend or ripped jeans, many fashion bloggers and celebrities have finished off their looks with simple heels. Rather than giving off a boyish vibe like the arrangement of dresses with sneakers, pairing heels with jeans adds a feminine touch as well as making one look more dressed up. This look is effortless, elegant and chic, without being too over the top. The perk about this is that you can easily change your day outfit into a night outfit, just by changing your shoes. Who knew dressing up would be that easy?
If you're still against the reverse roles of sneakers and heels, that's alright. But look through the pictures and maybe you'll end up changing your mind. Trust me, it's going to be the next big thing.
